Been a while

I know it has been a while since I have been here. Initially it was time constraints that kept me away, juggling between work and home. Later was hit by the writer’s block. At the beginning of the year I had promised myself to make more time for my blog but unfortunately that has not worked out well, however on the brighter side of things the year is yet to get over and I hope I can do all the justice over next three months.

And while I was away I did some take time out to go home and enjoy Mother Nature at it's best. Surrendering yourself completely to the beauty of nature is still by far the best way to re-inspire oneself.

Du-bye

Something is different as I write today. It’s not weather or the mood but it’s the backdrop, towering mountains have replaced the skyscrapers.

Change as they say is inevitable, and so it was time for us to move from Dubai to Muscat. We are all set for new challenges, goals, happiness, frustrations and learning’s here in Muscat.

Dubai has been really kind to us. We continue to be great fans of Dubai, of course every place has its own challenges but the city with each passing day tends to grow on you.  For many it might be the city with biggest and tallest, for me it has been the city of firsts!

It was almost 7 years ago I got married and came to Dubai join my hubby. To be honest, at first I didn’t like place very much but in a matter of few months I started calling it home. We set our first house together, done it up to call it our home, bought our first car, and mastered the art of DIY thanks to frequent trips to IKEA among many other things.  But nothing beats the pleasure of being first-time parents.

Little Smera was born here in Dubai and she filled our lives with immense joy. Staying away from family, it was difficult to raise an infant all by ourselves with no prior experience, but it got us closer to each other as partners.

We have been extremely fortunate on our career front and especially my husband who has been part of an outstanding company for the last 10 years. RSA has been extremely generous and supportive of him and his ambitions. In fact Smera is truly a RSA baby with pink and purple being favourite colours, true to the brand colours of the company.

Taking a sabbatical from work to enjoy motherhood, it was here I first tried my hands at blogging and I must admit I am addicted to it (thanks you for supporting my addiction !).

There are numerous memories tied with this city and I am really going to miss it. The friends we made, our house (no, home), our favourite food joints and so many other things. However I am sure we are going to make many more new memories and I would love to share it with you all too here on Sangrywords!

To Muscat it is, here we come, with a little prayer in our heart, smile on our faces and hope in our minds to start a new chapter!

Missed birthday in a really long break

Wouldn't it be nice if had a better explanation to stay away from blogosphere, other than just being lazy. When I started writing, now just over a year, I had big plans for my first blog anniversary. Well that moment came and passed by without my lazy soul knowing.

Belated happy birthday Sangrywords!

I feel a blog that goes without a new post for long is like cheese cracker with out cheese. This will be a good time to confess that I love cheese and crackers. Now that is really cheesy!

I was away for my well-deserved holiday back home. And I had every intention of blogging as soon as my soul settled down. Sadly that didn’t happen for me, in fact our family reunion got bigger and crazier than I had thought-out.

Here is my vacation summary:

My first guest post ..

A fellow indiblogger – Pramod Lohia, is trying to revive one of his two blogs. So when he opened Marriagebook.in for guest posts, I could not resist writing for his blog. As the name suggests the blog is on marriage and I had an interesting story to tell.

Do have a read and let me know what you think of it.

Cheers,

I am back !!

Just incase if you were wondering where Sangrywords has been for over a month, well then I have come back to the blogosphere unfortunately with nothing really exciting this time to tell. My family has been playing pass on parcel with viral flu. For over a month and boy it has been absolutely tiring.

It’s different when you are sick and miss your mum, but what would you when you are the mum and your little one is sick. Little over a month back, Smera started pre-school and just like most kids, she too fell sick with this change in her routine.

All was well when she recovered in a week, but then duhddudy aka daddy fell sick, the little girl who was well recovering from the flu fell ill again. And yes not to forget the mamma and then back baby again for another 2 weeks.

While this month had been plagued with the flu but it was just as bad as it sounds there were few highlights too:
  • Smera started her play-school  and made her first painting in school
  • My mum us visited twice this month and each time she cooked us a sumptuous meal and some more to last a week
  • We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary with a wonderful weekend getaway to Hatta ( a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city)
  • And we got the first complaint from Smera’s school for excessive use of the word daddy which reminded other kids of their dads and made them cry!

Twice as Versatile?

I was recently given the 'Versatile Blogger Award' by Iamlonelytoes and PurpleChronicle.  It may appear as the blogosphere equivalent of chain-mails, but if you think about it, it's got to be good to be recognised by your peers. Thank you Joriel and Kajal!

According to The Versatile Blogger Award rules one has to:
§         Add a picture of the award in your post.
§         Thank the award giver.
§         Share 7 random facts about you.
§      Nominate 15 other bloggers for The Versatile Blogger Award and let them know that they've been nominated.

Here is my list of 7 random things-
  1. I love to talk. A LOT. My report cards always had ‘very talktive’ remark on them.
  2. I don’t sweat much on my face just get hot flush. I secretly pray that one day I can also sweat like everyone else.
  3. I was once served chewing gum in my KFC. Yikes !!!
  4. I have lots of grey hair, more than my mum does. Sigh !!
  5. I have a habit of saying the same thing in 3 languages – Hindi, English, Malayalam.
  6. If I were given option either to die or eat fruits (esp banana), it would be a hard choice.
  7. I suffer from passive road rage, I’ll tell you all about this in another post.
